Mother's Day

Dear Mom,

Thank you for being so amazing! Thank you for being a best friend, a confidant, and most importantly a mother.  I love you soooo much and I am so proud of your accomplishments.  Everything from moving to American and not knowing a word of English, to being a successful engineer and now owning your own tech school! (check it out at http://www.pacifictechnicalcollege.com/cms/home.html) I love you mama, and I can't wait to see you!

Change of Heart??

Lately, I've been in a funk.  I feel like I have hit a brick wall and can't seem to get my head back on.  With all the stress of graduating in June 2010, finding a job, saving money and still making time for myself I'm getting a bit overwhelmed. I feel like these last few months of school are going by so fast, and my time is running out.

Now, that I'm coming to the point in my life of entering "Big Girl World", I'm so worried as to what lies ahead.  In this economy, its almost impossible to find a job, I've been putting myself out there and I just wish things would come together sooner, so I can stop stressing. haha.  I'm only 23 years old and I already have found MULTIPLE gray hairs!!! (at least I can dye my hair :)

After reading my BFF K's blog (http://lovelipstickandpearls.blogspot.com/), I've decided to write now my goals in this blog, so that I promise myself that I will complete them.

#1. Find a Job - One that makes me happy, one that I wake up every morning and get excited to go to work.  One where i can dedicate myself like my BFF B.

#2. Organize my life - KEEP MY KITCHEN CLEAN haha

#3.  Learn French - After watching the movie Coco Before Chanel I became so inspired to learn french and go back to France and just explore.

#4. Learn to cook - After all, according to chief Gusto, "Anyone can cook!" I want to be able to make wonderful meals and try something new each month, or week!

#5. Explore new options - this might sounds crazy, but I have been studying Engineering for 5 years, I love the science and math and the whole construction aspect, but I feel like something might be missing.  My BF always tells me, how proud of me he is for studying Engineering, but he knows that I have a passion for fashion, that I  get a total kick out of Vogue magazine, lucky and Allure.  He always said I should look into fashion.  Well lately, I've been wondering what If I looked into fashion or sports? I LOVE sports and my dream would be to work on ESPN as a sports commentator, but I'm not sure how that would work because I'd totally be in favor of the San Diego CHARGERS, through thick and thin.

I dunno maybe this job decision is just a bump in my road to finding what's right for me.  I know whatever I do, it will be right....its too bad I couldn't be a Construction Engineer, a Chargers manager and fashion editor all at once.....but hey, one can DREAM :)

Product Review

Now that I have come to an age where my sister would say "time to invest in your face", I have come to the conclusion that I'm living with this skin forever and I need to start taking care of it now.  Recently I started using Demalogica Special Cleansing Gel.  It's amazing!  It really cleans out all the dirt and oil after a long days work.  although Demalogica can be a bit pricey, (ranging from $25.00-$55.00) it is worth every penny.  The cleanser has lifted all my blackheads and made it easier to get rid of those nasty zits and such. The cleanser fights oils and keeps your skin feeling smooth and silky, but it doesn't take off eye makeup, so i suggest buying a good makeup remover which isn't too oily.  I like Almay Moisturizing Eye Makeup remover in liquid form, and it's only $5.99!  I recommend checking out Amazon.com for the best price depending on what kind of face wash you are looking for.

Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel, 8.4 fl oz (250 ml)Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant 2.6 oz. Almay Eye Make Up Remover Liquid, Moisturizing - 2 / Pack

Next, I want to remind you all that summer is creeping up on us and no matter how much you want that sun kissed bronze look, you NEED/MUST take care of your face and wear a moisturizer with sunscreen.  I use Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing gel and although I LOVE it, this year I'm going to have to can it, because it does not contain any SPF.

According to ELLE Magazine these are the top 5 ranked Moisturizers with SPF:
#1. Clinique Superdefense Triple Action Moisturizer with SPF 25 - "Makes skin soft and silky” and acts as a “shield against sun and pollution” to help prevent brown spots and fine lines. ($55.00)
Superdefense Triple Action Moisturizer SPF25 ( Combination Oily to Oily ) - 50ml/1.7oz
#2. Olay Definity Correcting Protective Lotion with SPF 15 - "skin tone fixer" ($20.99)
Olay Definity Correcting Protective Lotion with spf 15 with UV Protection, 1.7oz
#3. Neutrogena Healthy Defense Daily Moisturizer SPF 45 - “has it all,” including “a high level of sun protection” and antioxidants in a lightweight cream formula that truly “fits the bill.” ($26.49)
Neutrogena Healthy Defense Daily Moisturizer, SPF-45, 1.7-Ounce Packages (Pack of 2)
#4. Juice Beauty SPF 30 Mineral Sheer Moisturizer -“a natural sunscreen” that “works great under makeup” and contains ultrahydrating glycerin." ($29.00)
Juice Beauty SPF 30 Sheer Moisturizer 2 fl oz (60 ml)
#5.  La Mer The SPF 18 Fluid -“the elegant texture doesn’t feel like sunscreen.” ($126.95)
La Mer by LA MER for Women La Mer The SPF 18 Fluid--50ml/1.7oz

Has anyone tried one of these?? Some are a bit pricey, does anyone recommend any others??

Did You Know?

Adventures In Comedy

This week, I was lucky enough to get away from the chaos of school and work to attend a comedy show.  The show was by far a great expierence! I went to the show with my great girls, N, B and KC (not in relation to Kansas City Chiefs, haha). It was at the Hollywood Improv and the headliner was Dane Cook! Yes ladies, THE Dane Cook.  Now let me state that I'm not a huge Dane Cook fan, but after seeing this show I have a new liking for the guy.  He's a funny guy, don't get me wrong but I feel like a lot of his hype is because of his looks, because lets be honest, theirs not too many good looking comedians.  Along with Dane Cook, Ben Gleib from the Chelsea Lately show, Hannibal Buress (SO FUNNY!!!), Ari Shaffier (funny Jewish guy who loves porn apprantly) and Lukas Seely.

Dane Cook                                          Ben Gleib

I most definetly reccomend everyone attend a comedy show! They are typically under $20 a show and its a great way to end a long day or week.  After all laughter is a key to happiness.

I hope to attend more shows, my bucket list of comedies would be:
#1 Jerry Seinfeld
#2 Chelsea Handler
#3 Larry David (not sure if he does stand up)
#4 Ricky Gervais

It's Politics My dear Dawson.....

Upon hearing about the new immigration law passed by the state of Arizona, I felt a need to discuss the whole situation with you all.  The immigration and citizenship laws of the United States define who we are as Americans.  History always seems to repeat itself.  We spent decades fighting for our nation and its freedom, centuries ago and yet today it seems as though we are taking a step back.  We as Americans fought for the equality of man kind, and that no single region or state can decide who belongs as an American.

In a nut shell, the law authorizes police offers to stop and ask people for their immigration papers and legal status based only on "reasonable suspicion" that they are in the county illegally.  If illegal they will be arrested.

Its obvious that Arizona clearly has an issue with either race or immigration.  Latino account for 30% of Arizona, that's a huge portion of the state.  Research has shown that the state nearly spends "$2 Billion a year educating children from illegal families.  Arizona also has one of the lowest rates of labor force participation among youths, who compete with illegal immigrants for jobs."

I understand that Arizona might have issues with immigration, but how can they justify checking anyone that looks "illegal"???? I am so upset about this issue, and I truly feel as though Arizona has set us back as a nation. Although they have passed the law for their state, it impacts the whole nation.  It's a national uproar and I hope that Arizona will figure out a new way of dealing with this issue.

What do you guys think??? Do you think this will be adopted by other states?

Swim 2010

Its that time of year again...Swimsuit season.  Looking at my body this morning, I began to realize that its time to step into shape and get my beach body back.

Here's some advice before buying a swimsuit:

#1.Get your body back into shape.  A huge aspect of beauty is confidence and that all begins with loving the way you feel and look.  Being comfortable in your skin is he key to feeling fabulous in your suit.

#2. Get tan.  Now studies have proven that tanning salons are not the best idea for your skin and I know I shouldn't go but its sooooo tempting!  So this year in order to get that fabulous tan without the Skin damage, I'm going to use self tanner.  My BFF K (http://lovelipstickandpearls.blogspot.com) introducing me to the Coppertone Moisture Mist Tan Continuous spray, its a great find! only $10!

#3.  Find the right suit to fit your body.  Now lets be honest we all want the sexy, hot swimsuit of the year, but we don't all realize that it might not be the most flatter suit for us all.  Myself I have rather large breasts and I have found that although I adore the triangle top bikinis, the halter tops just fit my body better. They give me that lift and support better. If your someone with a larger butt, then I suggest you find a suit with a thicker band rather then the tie bottoms.

What's important is to realize what your favorite part about your body and to accent that body part in a classy, elegant way.

Here are some suits that I'm interested in, What do you guys think??

I'm really into the whole avant-garde thing right now and this suit is my favorite! You can wear the top 4 different ways!!

Sports Sports Sports!

wwHello Bloggers!

Happy Friday! So this weekend will hopefully be an eventful one! Today the New York Yankees are in town and I cant wait to watch them smash the Angels. After yesterdays triple play against the Oakland A's, I am sure this season will again be another great season for the Yankees. I have tickets to the Saturday game and I'm so excited.

Me (in the Yankees) and my best friend N

Since we are on the subject of Sports, yesterday was the 2010 NFL Draft, and I was proud of my San Diego Chargers :) In the first round we picked up Running Back Ryan Mathews from Fresno State. Now, I don't follow too much college football, but I've read some great stuff about this guy and I hope he lives up to his name. Since we have lost our dear LT, it was been critical searching for a new RB to work with Darren Baby Sproles.

This Is Ryan Matthews- Interesting that he is wear a #21 jersey- this is LT's number and now that he is taking LT's spot on the Chargers he better think he is wearing that number....

Another one of my favorites in the draft this year was Jimmy Clausen. He grew up in sunny So Cal and went to play QB for Norte Damn University. Although they didn't do as well, I think Jimmy as potential in the NFL. I met him about a year ago at a friends party and hes a great guy, who wants to play for the Oakland Raiders (blehh) My BF was totally happy about this considering he loves Norte Damn and is a huge Raider fan. Jimmy wasn't picked in the first round but his spirits are high and hopeful. "It's just a dream come true that I'm going to be playing in the National Football League," he said. "Obviously I didn't get drafted in the first round, but one team's going to like me. And I can't wait to see who that is."
UPDATE:: Kansas City Chiefs are looking to get Jimmy...

Fashion Steal: Cynthia Vincent for Target

So on April 18,2010 Cynthia Vincent released her line of shoes for Target and although they are not of the same quality they are gorgeous!! The shoes are not made of leather but still look great, and for $30 you can't complain. If your local Target has any of these shoes I suggest you snag them because I have called multiple Targets and none have the Gladiator Wedge in Cognac. If you find them Let me know ASAP! My search is still on...I think that after my hour long search, the employees of Target think I'm crazy haha.
